The current requirements by the Northern Beaches Council are to have all dogs desexed and registered (not just on the microchip site but with the council) by 6 months old. Failure to comply can lead to increased charges.

As a vet practice we feel that desexing by 6 months old is not in the best interest of every patient and we are happy to discuss out recommendations individually for your pet. If you wish to delay desexing and avoid additional council charges you will need to provide a certificate of recommendation of delayed desexing, which we can arrange for you. We must have examined the pet and typically we will do the certificate at the final puppy vaccine if you request it. You must present the certificate to the council BEFORE the pet reaches 6 months old to avoid the surcharge.

If you have any questions please contact the practice.
